Shut up, liver. You're fine.

Are you sober-curious? Our doctors give us plenty of reasons to quit drinking, but we now have a bunch more reasons: truly great nonalcoholic spirits. Gone are the days of sighing over a glass of sparkling water with lime and counting the calories that we drank at the party. We can also say goodbye to that Sunday morning headache and hello to keeping up our weekday healthy, active lifestyle every day.

Creating zero-proof spirits isn't an easy mission. A nonalcoholic spirit has to be balanced to stand alone, but also stand up to being mixed. In the past ten years, the industry has made leaps and bounds with some talented taste inventors bringing us beautiful booze-less booze. Here's a list of our favorites:

Seedlip. Ben Branson is the brain behind three delicious concoctions: Grove 42, a sophisticated, bright, citrus blend of Mediterranean Orange, Lemon Peel, Lemongrass and Ginger with a dry finish; Spice 94, a warm, aromatic blend of Allspice & Cardamom with fresh citrus top notes to balance the long bitter finish; and Garden 108, a fresh, herbal blend of Peas & traditional garden herbs including Rosemary, Thyme & Spearmint. You can get these "spirits" and the cocktail recipe ebooks at seedlipdrinks.com

Lyre's. The people at Lyre's have created nonalcoholic replacements for your favorite traditional spirits and then some. If you like tequila, Lyre’s Agave Blanco and Agave Reserva spirits are for you. Replace Triple Sec with their Orange Sec, Gin with Lyre's Dry London Spirit, and Vermouth with their Apéritif Rosso or Apéritif Dry. In fact, their website has a great "If you like..." feature. Check it out at lyres.com

Monday. If there was ever a day that makes most of us want to drink, it's Monday. Fortunately, the folks at Monday, with their mindset toward self care, staying sharp, and living life without compromise, have created a replacement for your Gin, Mezcal, and Whiskey. These bottles and their curated cocktail kits can be found at drinkmonday.co.

Proteau. Created by award-winning mixologist, author and worker-rights advocate, John deBary, Proteau stands apart from the crowd of non-alcoholic spirits and is ready to drink, right from the bottle—no mixing required. Ludlow Red is a botanical drink that pairs effortlessly with food and friendly company anytime day or night. Rivington Spritz is a sparkling botanical drink that is refreshing and bright. drinkproteau.com

Looking for a beer? There are several good nonalcoholic beers on the market, but we like Athletic Brewing Company and go out of our way to get our hands on it. Bill Shufelt and John Walker have created 8 styles and 14 flavor profiles, so you'll find the perfect brew that allows you to drink and still be sober to drive. athleticbrewing.com
