Like to roast, broil, braise or grill? We do, and we are really proud of our cooking chops. In 2020, we’re all cooking at home and getting really good at it, and (maybe too) comfortable with it. So let’s up our culinary game with game or better cuts of meat from real butchers who know what they’re doing. Don’t get me wrong, the guys and gals at Gelson’s have their ducks in a row and they get very good marks in the meat department, but we have some specialists that can help you make dinner REALLY special.

Here are the guys and gals you want to know west of Western to make your Friday or Sunday dinner stand up and take center stage:

Marconda’s Meats | Original Farmer’s Market: 6333 W 3rd Street, Los Angeles

Huntington Meats and Sausages | Original Farmer’s Market: 6333 W 3rd Street, Los Angeles

Standing’s Buchery | 7016 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles

Belcampo Meat Co. | 1026 Wilshire, Santa Monica | 8053 West 3rd, Los Angeles

Gwen Butcher Shop | 6600 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles

A Cut Above | 2435 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica

Peads and Barnetts | 1305 2nd Street, Santa Monica

All of these professionals do an excellent job. Find the one closest to you and see what they have to offer. After that, explore the others. There are more to find with a simple Google search…Kosher, Latin, Omaha, Korean…you never know who your favorite is until you meat them all.
